Wonder Woman Who is Wonder Woman? Allan Heinberg Terry Dodson Books
Collects Wonder Woman (2006) # 1-4 and WW Annual # 1 (2007)I came into this fully aware what was being said about it, but I bought it anyway, out of curiosity. I really tried to give it the benefit of the doubt. I read the first issue "eh, this isn't so bad." Then the second issue, still not too bad. By 3 and 4 the deviations from what Wonder Woman ought to be have just become too great. The problem is that if you've never read Wonder Woman before, good Wonder Woman (Perez, Wein, Jimenez, Rucka, and Simone) you won't realize just how wrong this book is.
I've read various webpages on the Internet saying that Geoff Johns was the one responsible for the new "creative" direction for the book. If this is true, please, please DC never let Johns near Wonder Woman again, in any media. He appears to think WW wasn't "human enough" so by making her "more human" he was hoping attract new readers, not realizing this would repel everyone who was already reading the book. "Who is Wonder Woman?" Johns certainly doesn't know.
I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because the Dodsons' art is pretty good for the most part.
Oh. Um. Johns and Heinberg wrote the upcoming Wonder Woman movie. With... Zack Snyder.
Oh, darn. Well, I'll watch it anyway, and pray to Athena Heinberg and Johns have come to their senses in the past few years.*
*Edit: They have.

Wonder Woman Who is Wonder Woman? Allan Heinberg Terry Dodson Books Reviews
It's a good comic book
A perfect solution to get a little girl to read.
A good book that kept me interested. More and more comics books have grown darker and more realistic. It is nice to see some background and connecting data that explains that storyline more fully.
Wonder Woman at the end of her second series had taken a lot... Her sisters fled to another plane, she sacrificed her reputation to save the life of her best friend and was scorned for her choices and actions.
She took a year off to explore who is Diana and what does that mean.
This book brings with it a solid well written story that needs to be judged as a collected edition not on the time delays that caused it to be late. The publisher made a choice to accommodate Allan Heinberg, writer of many hit TV series. They made a choice of quality over quantity.
It paid of in the finished product.
The Dodson's artwork for Diana is what Diana would look like or should look like in an animated series. She is powerful, gorgeous and evnces great martial and athletic prowess. Her fight scenes are breath taking.
I won't spoil the plot. This book is about a woman who is finding herself and feels alone but realizes that the friends and companions she cultivated stand by her, love her and from that love she finds she is the most powerful warrior of all.
That is who Wonder Woman is.
A 5 star read.
But if Heinberg cares to do another story, I would kindly suggest it get done first before it is marketed as such to the public.
This is one of the best comic collections I have seen in a good while. The artwork is fantastic, and the story is more that decent. This covers the return of Wonder Woman after her one year disappearance following the events of Infinite Crisis. It includes Donna Troy (who is unhappily filling in as Wonder Woman), Wonder Girl and Nemesis. This explains how Batman helps WW start out a new identity working as Diana Prince of a new Metahuman relations government organization. The story moved at a smooth and fast pace, and worked in appearances by most of the major players of the DC Universe. It is one of the best revamps of a characters 'new origins' that I have ever seen. Not to be a spoiler, but the manner that WW gains a larger seperation between her Wonder Woman persona and her Diana Prince persona is one of the most original and innovative ideas DC has come up with in years. Definitely a 5 star collection. I hope they keep up the great stories. Especially as I have been less that thrilled with how DC has handled more recent Superman collections.
This was the relaunch of the Wonder Woman comic series. There were hints of a good story but they weren't allowed to develop. Since I haven't followed the series I have no idea if any depth has ever been added. The use of comic book titles to introduce two characters was lame. NEMESIS is probably known to many readers but I doubt there are many younger fans who even know about the Wally Wood / Walt Simonson HERCULES series that ran what? Twelve issues, if I remember correctly. This book reminds me of a joke we used to tell about Image Comics Image Comics is the right name. Substance Comics would be a lie. Oh, and with regard to Back Story congratulations on the single worst picture of Donna Troy that I have ever seen. And a full page rendition, to boot.
There are some fun things in this book, but, unless you're set on assembling the entire WW narrative, this volume isn't worth it.
